Host a Play Date on May Day

Organize friends, neighbors and school communities on or in advance of May Day.

(See our page all about the May Day movement.)

Across the country, public schools are facing budget cuts, teacher shortages, classroom censorship, closures, privatization and other policies that harm our kids and deprive them of the opportunities and experiences they deserve. These attacks are driven by an elite billionaire class that aims to dismantle public education through pushing fringe beliefs through dark money organizations and influencing our elections. We cannot let them erase public schools as a pillar of democracy.

We know the truth:

  • Almost 90% of children in the United States attend public schools.
  • Public schools are the only schools that welcome ALL students regardless of race, sex, income or disability.
  • Most parents, caregivers, students, and school staff love their public schools and value their education.

Play Date at the Protest is an effort to organize our friends, neighbors and school communities on or in advance of May Day. We encourage you to use May Day events to reach more people in the fight for public schools. And if you don’t have a May Day rally near you, you can organize your own play date or Kids Over Corporations event on May 1st!
